How to Strengthen your Neck Muscles
Neck strengthening exercises are designed to improve the strength of the muscles supporting your neck which can help to relieve and prevent neck pain and headaches. Only perform these exercises when instructed to by your chiropractor as part of your overall chiropractic treatment program.
Exercise is an important component of your chiropractic treatment plan that aims to restore function to your body especially your spine. Targeted exercises help to restore function and strength to an injured or dysfunctional area this will allow you to achieve your goals whether that be competing in a sporting event, improving your fitness or simply being active with your family.

Neck Isometrics
- Sit comfortably with both feet flat on the floor, back straight and shoulders back
- Place your hand over your ear
- Use your neck muscles to press your head into your hand
- Hold for 10 seconds
- Repeat on the other side
- Place both hands against your forehead
- Press your head forward
- Hold for 10 seconds
- Place both hands against the base of your skull
- Press head backward
- Repeat each exercise 10 times
Chin tuck seated
- Sit comfortably with both feet flat on the floor, back straight and shoulders back
- Tuck your chin in without allowing your head to tilt forward or backwards
- Hold for 10 seconds
- Repeat 10 times
- If you find it difficult, build up slowly or try lying down with a pillow behind you head
